**laughs** I don’t know that this is all that unresolved - we’ve seen evidence that when he does sleep, it’s lying flat against whatever is convenient (~~which never happens to be a winchester, sadly~~), but I’ll keep my fingers crossed, just for you. And while we’re talking bird-like tendencies, if he could perch on things more often (tabletops, armchairs, the top of the Impala when Dean’s not looking, etc.) that would not be entirely unappreciated over here.

The hamsa (Arabic: خمسة‎ khomsah, also romanized khamsa, meaning lit. “five”) is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings.

Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye. The symbol predates Christianity and Islam. In Islam, it is also known as the Hand of Fatima, so named to commemorate Muhammad’s daughter Fatima Zahra (c. 605 or 615 - 633). Today in History: The First American woman in space, 1983

In 1983 the space shuttle Challenger was launched into space on its second mission. Sally Kristen Ride was an American physicist and astronaut. Ride joined NASA in 1978 and at the age of 32, became the first American woman to enter into low Earth orbit in 1983, she was also the youngest astronaut to be launched into space.

During the six-day mission, Ride, an astrophysicist from Stanford University, operated the shuttle’s robot arm, which she had helped design.

Her historic journey was preceded almost 20 years to the day by cosmonaut Valentina V. Tereshkova of the Soviet Union, who on June 16, 1963, became the first woman ever to travel into space. The United States had screened a group of female pilots in 1959 and 1960 for possible astronaut training but later decided to restrict astronaut qualification to men. In 1978, NASA changed its policy and announced that it had approved six women to become the first female astronauts in the U.S. space program.

I love the friendship potential of Jo+Rufus so much. I want all the fic of them salting and burning and drinking after it’s over.
